I took the footpath from Drakelow to Blakeshall which passes Solcum Farm and then doubled back on myself.
Lots of goldcrests were high up in the conifer trees. One of the males flashed its bright orange crest which is a bonus at anytime of the year.
Hart's-tongue fern was plentiful in a damp area along the footpath, turning one of the leaves over revealed its spores - see photo.
